PAWNEE - Hattie "Wilma" Thompson, 89, of Pawnee, Ill., passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at Sunrise Nursing Home in Virden, Ill. Wilma was born Feb. 16, 1925, in Galatia, Ill., the daughter of Loran K. and Hattie Vantrease Tate. She married Arthur P. Thompson on Oct. 10, 1942, in Galatia. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art, in 1987 and a brother Harold Tate. Wilma was a member of the Pawnee United Methodist Church, and was a lifetime member of the Pawnee Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her son, Phillip A. (wife, Teresa) Thompson of Pawnee, Ill.; a brother, Ken (wife, Dottie) Tate of California; a sister, Betty Bozarth of Harrisburg, Ill., and three grandchildren, Christina D. (fianc̩, Kyle Gunderson) Thompson, Alexander P. (wife, Mary) Thompson, and Andrew W. (wife, Maggie) Thompson. Wilma's family will meet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at the Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. Rev. Steve Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee. Memorial contributions honoring Wilma may be made to the Pawnee Food Pantry or Pawnee Daily Bread.
